Welcome to my first ever blog!
I've chosen the name 'Perfect weather for spinning and knitting' because.... it always is!!!
And particularly in the last month or so, with the wintery weather, staying cozy indoors with spinning and knitting projects has felt like the best thing to do.
However, it is always perfect weather for spinning and knitting - bright spring days when you can first sit out and take advantage of natural daylight for intricate projects or spinning dark fibres, and later the grass is at last dry enough for spreading out newly-clipped fleeces to sort. On summer days when the sun warms the fleece as you spin it, you can have outdoor dyeing days, and washed yarns dry quickly on the line, as you knit in a shady corner. Autumn days turn thoughts to knitting winter warmers or gifts, and inspire a new range of colour combinations.
When the weather is wrong for outdoor plans, there's always knitting or spinning to make creative use of time that had been set aside for gardening or walking, and when its good enough for picnics at the beach, knitting or spindle-spinning are portable enough to provide a good reason for a few minutes sitting and relaxing, and more sociable than reading. To paraphrase, there's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong activities!!
So - it's always perfect weather....
